Eternity of the Soul
Humanists and evolutionists teach that man is made only of body and spirit, on a par with the animals but elevated through intelligence and the good fortunes of evolution. They have neglected the third element of man's existence - his soul.
In stealing this away, they have also stolen the need for salvation and any hope of life eternal in the presence of God.
The scripture teaches plainly that man also has a distinct third element after the body and spirit, and that is the soul. This spiritual nature of man is separate and distinct from the body in which it dwells.
The apostle Paul recognises this in his letter to the Thessalonians:
"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ."1 Thessalonians 5:23
Later, in Hebrews he reminds us that
"... the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12
It's easy to see a person's body and to discern their spirit, but like most spiritual things, the soul is invisible. We accept its existence only by faith, and we act to ensure that it will be looked after. The thing to understand here is that people are not human beings having an occasional spiritual experience. People are really spiritual beings having a human experience. When that human experience is over, what happens to the soul? Paul answers this questions too.
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Hebrews 9:27
It's obvious that the eternity of the soul presents us with a dilemma. This website is dedicated to helping you find your way out of that problem. Please read on.
